This King Post has a curved lower chord to add visual interest. The tension loads on the lower chord of the truss are transferred through the King post with a custom fabricated hidden steel plate and 3/4" steel pins. The posts are Eastern White Cedar and Eastern White Pine for all other timbers and 1" rough sawn decking. All timbers are rough sawn locally, and have two coats of a red dyed natural exterior oil. The red really makes the frame pop!
