Gilligan Barn Part 2
The first leg of this project can be viewed under "Gilligan Barn" on the projects page. This project has been divided up into a few parts too fit into the client's budget and our building schedule. In the late winter and spring of 2022 siding windows, roofing, doors, flooring, and trim were all installed. The main structure was laid down initially to enact structural repairs by scarfing new work in. The large scarfs can be seen on posts, top plates, tie beams, rafters, ect. Custom windows were made with recycled sash, and girts were installed to the restored main frame. Wherever possible, the original oak girts were used as sills or headers of the windows. A full timber floor system was installed and after a layer of plywood, (becasue why wouldnt you!), a local pine T&G floor was hand nailed down. Power was dug in for lights, outlets, and ceiling fans. Barn trim was run around the windows and base. The barn is breathing new life as a family space and a music studio.
