New Russia Barn
This barn was built circa 1800 and is located in New Russia, New York. It was in need of sill and foundation work. Rafter tails, top plates, posts, knee braces, roof decking, and siding were replaced as needed. The owners wished to preserve as much historical wood as possible, so boards and timbers were numbered, taken down, and accurately re-installed. The wide roof decking (boards 20-inches or wider) was repurposed onto some lower walls. It was more economical (and more fun!) to jack up the barn ourselves with cribbing and wooden beams to complete the lower structural work.
