Westport Barn
This 30' x 40' barn located in Westport NY is a fine example of a complete farmer barn. The chickens and hogs were stored down below, the milking cows, horses, oxen, and hay above. The animals were fed throughout the winter supplying the farm with nutrition and working necessities. Today the barn is owned by Vito and Martha, and while the storage needs are different, the usefulness remains. Vito, a fine craftsmen himself, had noticed that the corner stones of the foundation had been leaning outwards due to some unwanted vegetation. Upon looking into that issue further, significant sill rot was found under an old window. We jacked up the barn off of 9' towers of cribbing to allow work of replacing the foundation stones and sill beam to commence below . Siding was replaced where needed and scribed to the stones.
